Opportunities

Join the lab

We work across two sites — Adelaide and California. Current openings and standing invitations are below.

In Adelaide

We currently have no open funded postdoc or technician positions. We are also not accepting new PhD students in 2026, as we're full!

If you are interested in applying to bring your own fellowship to the lab, please email Jenny your CV and a short cover letter explaining why you're interested in our research, and what questions you'd like to tackle.

We welcome enquiries from potential Honours and MPhil/MRes students, and can also advise on available stipends, particularly if you are a current AU student. Please contact Jenny to discuss project topics. Include your CV, and 1–2 paragraphs outlining your research interests and background. Do try to avoid using generative AI to write these — it makes them very generic, and it's very obvious to read.

There are paid research opportunities for undergraduate researchers, for example through the Waite Research Institute (WRI) Summer Scholars program. Information on these and other research scholarships can be found via the university portal.

We also welcome undergraduate students who want to undertake research projects for course credit.

In California

We don't have anything available at the moment, but if you are interested in working with us, please email Jenny your CV and a short cover letter explaining why you're interested in our research.

There are many resources for finding potential graduate/postdoctoral fellowships, including from UC Berkeley — see also our resources page. We welcome UCB graduate students who are interested in rotating with us.

We have a number of paid internships for students at LBNL, particularly over the summer. These include opportunities for high-school students (via the Biotech Partners program), and undergraduates from two- and four-year institutions (via the CCI and SULI programs respectively).
